Hamburg-based renewable energy company Niteos GmbH and Danish trading firm Twig Energy have together acquired a 24.9-MW standalone battery storage project in Denmark.
The vendor of the project is Danish developer E&B Renewables, with Niteos announcing the acquisition on Wednesday but not disclosing any financial details.
The battery energy storage system (BESS) is situated in northern Jutland and construction is expected to begin by mid-year. Niteos will leverage its expertise in the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects, while Twig will manage trading and revenue optimization for the asset. Once operational, the battery will improve the flexibility of Denmark’s grid and support the expansion of renewable energy sources.
“This acquisition enhances and broadens our current investments in other European BESS markets as we aim to secure early-mover advantages and achieve long-term benefits for our investors,” stated Adam Irwin, a member of Niteos's advisory board.
Niteos was previously known as Connected Infrastructure Capital and is supported by London-based Aviva Investors.
