Uniper and GSPC have signed a long-term agreement for the supply of LNG.

Uniper and Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. (GSPC) have finalized a long-term LNG agreement for deliveries of up to 0.5 million tons per year into India, lasting up to 10 years. This contract, which commences in January 2028, involves Uniper supplying LNG to GSPC at terminals located on India's west coast.
The signing of this agreement follows the recent summit between Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merz in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, aimed at enhancing economic relations between the two nations through energy collaboration.
Carsten Poppinga, Chief Commercial Officer of Uniper SE, stated, “The LNG supply agreement with GSPC utilizes Uniper’s global energy trading skills and LNG market knowledge to benefit both parties. It also solidifies our relationship with another key government-owned gas company to create affordable and reliable energy solutions worldwide.”
Avantika Singh, IAS, Managing Director of GSPC, remarked, “We are rapidly expanding our operations to establish a strong presence in India's gas trading market. This agreement with Uniper, in which the German federal government has a substantial stake, is a strategic foundation for GSPC’s goal of securing competitive, long-term LNG. This partnership is a crucial step in enhancing GSPC’s portfolio and addressing the growing natural gas supply-demand gap in Gujarat and the national market.”
