The UK's offshore wind pipeline has reached 93GW.
The Crown Estate's recent UK Offshore Wind Report identifies a 93GW pipeline comprising operational, planned, and potential offshore wind projects in the UK.

The report indicates that offshore wind generated 52TWh in 2025, which represents 18% of the UK's total electricity, emphasizing its increasing importance in the energy landscape.

It mentions that the pipeline includes both fixed and floating capacity, demonstrating ongoing market confidence, bolstered by 8.4GW obtained in Contracts for Difference Allocation Round 7 and 4.5GW of floating wind seabed rights in the Celtic Sea.

According to the report, offshore wind continues to be the UK's primary source of renewable energy, with 16.5GW of installed capacity from nearly 3,000 turbines in 46 wind farms.

It also notes that construction activity has risen to 11.4GW, up from 7.8GW the previous year, which includes eight wind farms, 801 turbines, and 11 substations.

In 2025, renewable energy made up 54% of the UK's electricity generation, an increase from 52% in 2024, driven by the growth in offshore wind and solar energy.

Approximately 40,000 individuals are currently employed in the offshore wind industry, with projections suggesting that this number could reach 94,000 by 2030.

In 2025, offshore wind contributed to a reduction of 20.8 million tonnes of CO2, aiding the UK's shift towards a lower-carbon energy system.

Julia Rose, head of offshore wind at The Crown Estate, remarked, "In just 25 years, offshore wind has transitioned from a developing technology to a fundamental component of the UK's energy mix."

"Today, it provides clean energy for households, sustains jobs in communities, and creates contracts for businesses nationwide, representing one of the UK's most significant industrial achievements in recent history."
