Equinor has sent its inaugural LNG shipment to Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corp. Ltd (DFPCL) in India, as part of a long-term contract.
Natural gas plays a crucial role in producing ammonia for chemicals and fertilizers, contributing to improved crop yields and stronger food systems. Consistent gas supplies are vital for enhancing food security, particularly in expanding markets.
This shipment from the Hammerfest LNG facility in northern Norway signifies the beginning of a long-term energy collaboration and highlights Equinor’s dedication to providing dependable LNG to clients in various regions.
Additionally, this event marks the first energy molecule exported from Norway under the trade and economic partnership agreement (TEPA) following the ratification of the EFTA-India TEPA last year.
Equinor and DFPCL celebrated the occasion alongside Indian energy sector representatives at a reception hosted by the Norwegian embassy.
