Poland's Orlen increases the capacity of the Kleczew solar park to 250 MW.
Polish energy company Orlen SA announced today that it has finished expanding its solar photovoltaic (PV) farm in Kleczew to 250 MW, making it the largest facility in its PV portfolio.

The Kleczew Solar & Wind project, overseen by Orlen's subsidiary Energa Wytwarzanie, was constructed on land reclaimed from lignite open-pit mining in the western Greater Poland province. In addition to the PV park, it features a 19.2-MW wind farm, establishing one of the largest hybrid projects in the area, according to a press release from Orlen.

In a year, the solar plant is expected to generate enough energy to supply approximately 100,000 households. The installation is designed for further growth, with the potential capacity increasing to around 334 MW based on connection conditions.

Energa Wytwarzanie acquired the hybrid project in 2023 from the domestic developer Lewandpol Holding, as reported by its parent company Energa.

Orlen emphasized that the group is enhancing its renewable energy portfolio as part of its strategy to surpass 12 GW of combined installed capacity in wind, PV, biogas, and biomethane by 2035. Its 1.14-GW offshore wind farm, Baltic Power, is set to be launched this year, followed by two additional projects in Polish waters: the nearly 1-GW Baltic East and the 4-GW Baltic West.
