PNE is moving forward with a 99.2-MWp agrivoltaic project in Romania.
PNE AG has announced that its 99.2-MWp Hotar agrivoltaic project in Romania is now ready for construction, as stated by the Romanian division of the German renewable energy developer and wind energy producer on Tuesday.

Located in Bihor County in western Romania, the project will integrate energy generation from photovoltaic (PV) panels with agricultural operations. The solar facility will be situated approximately 40 kilometers from the 87-MW Oradea PV park, which was developed by PNE and sold to Israeli firm Econergy International Ltd in 2022.

All necessary permits for the Hotar project have been obtained, and the approval for connecting the plant to the grid is nearing completion. The site's operations will be supported by a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of up to 57 MWh.

PNE Romania specializes in the development of onshore wind farms, large-scale PV installations, and BESS. In April, it received permission to build two standalone battery systems totaling 272 MW. The company also has another project that combines solar energy with agricultural activities: the 106-MWp Maxineni project in Braila County, Romania, which reached the shovel-ready stage a few months ago.
