Enova will replace 6 MW of turbines in a wind repowering project in Germany.
German wind farm developer and operator Enova announced on Tuesday that it has obtained approvals to upgrade its Elsdorf and Rurich wind farms, increasing the capacity from 6 MW to 42 MW with new turbines.

The permits, granted under Germany's Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), were approved by the Rhein-Erft district following a 20-week application process, according to Enova. The company anticipates starting construction in the latter half of 2027.

The upgrade will involve the removal of four existing 1.5-MW MD 77 wind turbines, which will be replaced by six Nordex N163 turbines, each rated at 7 MW. Four of the new turbines will be set up at the Elsdorf location, while two will be located at Rurich.

Based in Hamburg, the company develops, owns, and operates onshore wind projects across Germany. It currently manages a portfolio of approximately 1 GW and aims to increase its owned capacity to 3 GW by the end of 2030.
