Energiekontor boosts German wind farm, approved to construct an additional 46 MW.
German wind and solar developer and operator Energiekontor AG has obtained approval for the construction of 46 MW of wind farms in North Rhine-Westphalia, following the successful launch of an 11-MW facility in the region.

The company announced on Wednesday that it has activated the Drensteinfurt-Rieth wind park and has transferred it to its owners, a group of private investors, as per the agreement made last summer. Energiekontor managed the project on a turnkey basis and will supervise its technical and commercial operations.

The Drensteinfurt-Rieth plant features two Enercon E-160 EP5 turbines with a hub height of about 120 meters, and it is projected to produce around 24 GWh of electricity each year. This output will meet the energy needs of over 7,000 average households and help reduce more than 18,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. The operations at this site will benefit from subsidies granted under the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) following a tender in 2024.

In addition, Energiekontor has received approval to install two new wind farms with a combined capacity of 46 MW in the Hoxter district. Given their proximity, the projects will be developed simultaneously to maximize synergies, as explained by the developer.

Since its founding in 1990, Energiekontor has successfully completed over 170 wind and solar park projects, totaling more than 1.5 GW of installed capacity.
