Germany opens 258-MW rooftop solar tender

Germany has kicked off a tender for rooftop solar installations, seeking proposals with a combined capacity of 258 MW, the Federal Network Agency has announced on its website.

Participants are invited to submit bids until June 1, 2024. Since the date falls on Saturday, bids will be accepted until June 3, the agency said. The maximum value for projects competing in the auction is EUR 0.105 (USD 0.113) per kWh.

In 2024, Germany aims to allocate 900 MW of capacity for rooftop solar systems on buildings and noise barriers across three tender rounds. In March, the Federal Network Agency selected 125 rooftop solar projects with a total capacity of 264 MW in this year's first round which attracted bids of a combined 378 MW.

In 2023, the power regulator aimed to distribute 650 MW of rooftop solar in three calls but concluded the year with 579 MW of awards.
