Daily (30.09.2019): European spot power prices seen in a sharp fall on Friday due to strong supply

Crude oil prices lost ground on Friday, after media reported about a potential reduction of the U.S. investment portfolio into China, raising prospects of an aggravation of the U.S.-China trade tensions. Further pressure came from a contraction in the profits earned by Chinese industrial companies in August. In addition, Saudi Arabia’s strong efforts to bring its oil output back on track sooner than expected continued to weigh on prices. Brent crude fell by 1.3% to $61.91 a barrel, while WTI futures inched down by 0.9% at $55.91 a barrel.

Fessenheim plant to shut by mid-2020

Units 1 and 2 of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant in eastern France will permanently shut down in February and June 2020, respectively, Secretary of State for Ecological and Solidarity Transition Emmanuelle Wargon said yesterday. Their closure had previously been set to coincide with the start-up of the Flamanville EPR, which has now been delayed until possibly the end of 2022.

Bosnia's Federation net electricity output falls 20% year-on-year in Aug

The net electricity production of Bosnia's Federation decreased to 729 GWh in August from 914 GWh in the same month of 2018, the entity's statistical office said on Friday.
