Oil prices hiked on Monday due to forecasts for higher prices on gasoline and consumer goods. Brent futures rose $1.3, or 1.7%, to end at $76.17 a barrel. WTI crude surged by 1.5% to settle at $70.73 a barrel, for the first time above $70 level since late 2014.

Oil prices rose on Friday on tight global supplies and because the market waited for the news on possible new U.S. sanctions against Iran. Brent crude added $1.25, or 1.7 percent, to close at $74.87 a barrel. WTI futures settled 1.9% higher at $69.72 a barrel.
