Oil prices declined from new four-month highs in agitating trading on Wednesday after Russian oil minister Alexander Novak stated at a closed-door briefing that a deal on an oil output freeze expected to be signed this month in Doha would not yield a positive outcome. Brent crude fell 51 cents to settle at $44.18 per barrel, while U.S. crude eased 41 cents to close at $41.76.

Egypt receives $4bn financing from international banks to develop 14 GW of CHP plants
Egypt's state-owned Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) has received €3.5bn ($4bn) in financing from Deutsche Bank, HSBC and KfW's Ipex Bank to support the development of three gas power plants, which have a combined capacity of 14.4GW in Egypt.

Made-in-the-USA wind power hit output record last year
American wind power industry employed a record of 88,000 jobs at the start of 2016, up 20% in a year, according to the U.S. Wind Industry Annual Market Report, Year Ending 2015, released by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

China connects 20MW solar plant in coal mine subsidence region
Announced by the Energy Bureau of Anhui Province last Wednesday, China has installed the biggest floating PV plant atop a fishpond. The 20 MW array is sited at a coal mining subsidence district of Huainan City and was linked to grid last month. The array is phase one of a bigger 300 MW project.
