China announced on Thursday cuts to fuel prices, introducing additional stimulus into the world's second-largest economy, which has shown signs of recovery in latest months. The Asian country will cut gasoline and diesel prices by 310 Yuan ($49.75) and 300 Yuan a metric ton, effective from Friday, has announced the National Development and Reform Commission, the country's top economic planning body.

Brent December crude increased on Thursday as investors covered short positions ahead of the contract's expiration at the end of the day's session, while economic concerns weighed on January futures prices. Brent for December delivery which is expiring soon climbed $1.37, or 1.25 percent, to settle at $110.98 a barrel, having traded from $109.66 to $111.12, while January Brent slipped 47 cents to settle at $108.01, having traded from $107.30 to $109.58.
