Brent crude prices declined for a seventh straight session and U.S crude futures declined for a fifth straight day on Wednesday in choppy trading on rising U.S. crude inventories and pessimistic euro zone data which offset encouraging signs that Chinese petroleum demand could stage a recovery.

China is seeking to steadily resume construction of new nuclear power plants, approving a small number of nuclear power projects by 2015. The government froze new nuclear power projects and ordered a national scrutiny of existing plants after Japan's Fukushima disaster.

Almost 17 bidders from 12 countries, including Gazprom, are bidding to acquire the Greek gas companies DEPA, the public gas supply corporation of Greece, and DESFA, a fully owned subsidiary of DEPA. At present, the Greek Republic owns a 65 % stake in the company and a 35 % stake is held by the refining company Hellenic Petroleum.

Brent and U.S. Crude futures continued to decline on Tuesday in post-settlement trading on the American Petroleum Institute declarations that U.S. crude and gasoline stocks posted a gain last week, though less than analysts expected, while distillate stocks dropped along the expectations.
