Europe installed two-thirds of worldwide solar panel power in 2011
According to a report from the European Commission, two-thirds of worldwide solar panels installations in 2011 were in Europe, totaling 18.5 GW. The photovoltaic industry in Europe has increased by an average of over 40% per year in the last 10 years, at the same time as production costs have dropped by around 60%. Its overall PV capacity totaled 52 GW.

Italy: Eni to switch its Venice plant into a biofuel plant
Italian energy group Eni announced a $125 million project to convert its Venice Refinery into a bio-refinery, with the first biofuel production expected to start at the beginning of 2014.

Greece reveals new projects to improve gas infrastructure
The Greek National Natural Gas System Operator (DESFA) announced a new 1.7 billion Euros investment plan which aims to increase domestic and industrial usage of natural. The objective is to augment the use of gas to 100% within the next 10 years, reducing oil consumption and lignite production. For this reason DESFA has launched many new projects.

Denmark achieves its 2020 solar energy goal ahead of time
Denmark has already achieved its 2020 goal of 200MW solar power generation capacity this year before the schedule, mainly due to favorable government incentives and to net metering.
