EU and China sign a deal on greenhouse gases

The European Commission (EC) announced that the EU development commissioner Andris Piebalgs and Chinese commerce minister Chen Deming have signed a financing agreement promoting the environment transition towards a low-carbon economy and a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in China at an EU-China summit in Brussels.

Gazprom and Centrica strike a 3 year gas supply contract

British utility Centrica has announced on Thursday that it has signed a 3 years gas supply contract with Gazprom Marketing & Trading, a UK registered wholly-owned subsidiary of Russian energy giant Gazprom. Under the deal, Gazprom will supply 2.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas starting from 2014.

RWE npower opens the Pembroke Power Station

After three years of construction, the control of the final part of the plant was delivered to the station team last week. RWE npower presented the facility as one of Europe's largest and most efficient combined cycle gas turbine plant which will provide a highly flexible and reliable source of energy, besides it will power 3,5 million homes.
