After the gas dispute between Ukraine and Russia last year which has left Bulgaria without gas for three weeks in the winter period, the European Council decided that every member state should have at least two sources of gas and electricity by 2014, in order to avoid repeating the Russian-Ukrainian gas crisis.

Brent crude climbed for a fifth consecutive session on Wednesday, trading above $115 a barrel on investors’ cautious optimism that the German court would approve the legality of the euro zone’s bailout fund. The oil prices were also supported by the expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve would unveil a third round of bond purchasing on Thursday.

According to recent data, Italy generates more electricity from solar power than from wind power and now its installed solar power per capita is five times bigger than in California. The move came as the Italian solar PV market expanded at a faster pace than the wind market.
