Japan’s energy imports increase after nuclear reactors dismantle
Following the closure of nuclear power plants, Japan increased its coal and LNG imports by a fifth in May in order to deal with its energy shortage. Therefore, Japan should import as much as 90 million tons of LNG in the year through March, to generate the power needed to set off for the shut reactors

Renewable energy makes up 12.4% of EU energy consumption
Energy from renewable sources have contributed to 12.4% of the EU’s overall energy consumption in 2012, compared to 11.7% in 2009 and 10.5% in 2008, according to the latest data revealed by Eurostat.

EIB provides a 175 million dollars loan for France-Spain power interconnector
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a 175 million euros loan to the Spanish Red Electrica, to finance the second power interconnector between Spain and France.
