UK and Denmark to develop a North Sea “supergrid”

The British National Grid operator and its Danish “copartner”, Energinet.dk, will cooperate in the development of a North Sea “supergrid” which will deliver green power between two North European countries. The movement came immediately after the announcement of the start of a new feasibility study on suggested electricity inter connector.

Daily – crude oil futures down on worries about the euro zone economy

U.S. crude oil futures traded down on Monday on concerns over the euro zone economy and low U.S. economic data, but losses were pared on hopes that Federal Reserve will adopt more monetary easing to support the struggling economy. WTi crude oil futures for June delivery traded at 104.87 dollars a barrel after trading range between 103.88 and 105.16 dollars.

Daily- European prompt power prices increase on lower demand forecast

Oil prices traded steady above $119 per barrel on Monday due to expectations for a third round of monetary easing by the US which limited the oil price decline and as weaker dollar, which hit a two-month low, continued to support commodities despite a slower economic growth all over the world.

Total posts a 5% drop in Q1 adjusted net income

France’s largest oil company Total has posted a $217 million decline in its first quarter adjusted net income, down 5% compared to the first quarter of 2011, mainly due to flat oil and gas production rates and a drop in European demand for petrochemicals.

Bulgaria and Azerbaijan to ink a deal on gas cooperation
