Iran’s top oil buyers in Europe announced that they are making substantial cuts in oil supply just some months in advance of European Union sanctions. Reducing oil flows to the continent will start in March and will imply cutting off more than a third of supply or over 300, 000 barrels per day.

Crude oil prices traded near $120 per barrel on Friday supported by concerns about potential supply disruptions following conflicts between OPEC producer Iran and the European countries and hopes for the second Greek bailout deal. North Sea Brent fell 6 cents to $120.05 by 10:07 GMT, while U.S. crude traded up 39 cents to $102.70.

The Czech Republic has tempered its nuclear ambitions to build five nuclear reactors in the country, being scaled back to just two units, even if Germany and Poland may have been counting on those nuclear reactors to supply electricity. Germany has halted eight of its oldest reactors, intending to close another nine by 2022, aftermath the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe.

Gazprom, Europe’s main supplier of natural gas is planning to invest between 200 million and 300 million euros to double its underground natural gas storage in order to make sure the Siberian cold doesn’t freeze up pipelines, Gazprom Deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev said on Wednesday.
