Geothermal capacity to reach 25.1 GW by 2020
Global geothermal power capacity could reach 25.1 GW by the end of 2020, with 30 percent produced only in the United States. According to the released report by Pike Research, over 10.7 GW are put into operation in 26 countries, with the United States on the top with 3.08 GW of installed capacity.

Italy energy demand to increase 10% by 2025
Total energy demand in Italy is likely to increase from 177.5 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe) forecasted in 2011 to 186.6 million toe in 2015 and 195.5 million toe in 2025 with Italian economic slowdown, following approval of the government's austerity plan, weighing on short-term energy demand and according to a recently published report by the Italian oil refining body Unione Petrolifera (UP).

Natural gas versus coal: UK Gas demand 2 % down this winter
According to the estimations of National Grid, the UK network operator, the British gas demand will decline by 2 % this winter, as the power plants prefer cheaper coal to produce electricity instead of natural gas, even if the gas fired plants eliminate less carbon emissions.

UK’s North Sea production declines below 1 million barrels per day
UK’s oil output from the North Sea registered a 16 % plunge from April to June, being the largest drop since 1995, the Department of Energy and Climate Change said yesterday.
