IEA’s decision to halt oil release pushes Brent up
The International Energy Agency (IEA) announced on Thursday that it will halt to release emergency oil reserves, after the global energy regulator put 60 million barrels of oil on the market in the bid to bring oil prices down that made the prices increase at $120 per barrel, following disruptions of Libyan supply.

Total to invest in Arctic gas terminal production

GeoTek to receive 2.85 million dollars from DOE
GeoTek Energy, LLC was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to obtain 450,000 dollars for the initial design of the Gravity Head Energy System (GHES) with the opportunity to obtain a further financial support of up to 2.4 million dollars as to confirm the final design.

U.S. and Brent crude oil futures increased again on Wednesday on rising optimism that the euro zone and US debt issues would be resolved. NYMEX crude contract for September delivery traded at 98.40 dollars a barrel, lifting 54 cents after a trading range between 96.93 and 99.37 dollars, while ICE Brent crude for September delivery settled at 118.15 dollars a barrel, up 1.09 dollars, after trading from 117.06 to 118.86 dollars.

EDF confident that UK nuclear projects are on target
EDF, France’s electricity giant, announced on Wednesday that it is slowing down the building of a new generation nuclear reactor in France by two years and at a nearly double cost than the estimated one, following a couple of deadly accidents and safety reviews requested after the Fukushima disaster.
