Russia's reputation as a dependable energy exporter was badly denigrated by a series of pricing disputes with Ukraine which led to disruptions of Russian gas supply to Europe in the middle of winter. Additionally, Moscow was accused of using its natural riches to put pressure on its neighbors.

Iranian Oil Minister Masoud Mirkazemi, the actual OPEC president, declared on Sunday that despite the oil hike of over $100/barrel, there was no need to hold an emergency meeting of the oil producers, members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Country (OPEC).

U.S. crude futures decreased insignificantly on Thursday after the recent increase as investors took profits in anticipation of a slowdown in air strikes in Libya on lasting oil supply concerns. U.S. crude for May delivery shed 15 cents to 105.60 dollars a barrel, after registering a trading range between 104.76 and 106.69 dollars a barrel.

A new wind farm will be built in the southeastern part of Romania, in Constanza by a globally known wind company Iberdrola Renovables. The wind plant, called Mihai Viteazu, will consist of 40 wind turbines of 2 MW each and will supply energy to around 1 million people, equal to the population of Romania’s capital, Bucharest. The construction of this wind plant will also lead to a further cut of the CO2 emissions by 1.25 million tones per year.
