A crude oil pipeline between Russia and China is now in operation which will help Russia in diversifying its oil clients more towards the east and will overturn decades of Russian dependence on European markets. The project costs $25bn and was partially financed by Chinese loans.

According to the declarations made by Poweo, the French leading operator of power and gas, the board should decide if it will continue the implementation of its Antifer LNG terminal project in the northern France, at Le Havre. The Antifer LNG project involves the construction of a terminal of a 9 billion cubic meter per year.

Prices for U.S. crude oil futures shed 1 dollar to 88.38 dollars a barrel on Wednesday. The ICE Brent futures dropped 55 cents at 92.98 dollars a barrel, while the front month contract shed 88 cents at 88.50 dollars a barrel.

According to the U.S. company Noble Energy, a recent test drilling confirmed huge natural gas reserves at Israel's Leviathan gas deposit in the Mediterranean Sea, containing 450 billion cubic meters of gas, which are supposed to guarantee the country's energy independence.
