Daily (04.06.2020) NBP spot soared by 13.6% on Wednesday as low wind output boosted gas-for-power demand

Crude oil prices stretched gains on Wednesday, on a potential new agreement between OPEC and its allies to cut crude supplies. Nevertheless, a weekly increase in U.S crude inventories supported the bullish trend. As a result, Brent crude increased by 0.6% to $39.79 a barrel. Similarly, WTI futures traded 1.3% higher at $37.29 a barrel.

EDF terminates nuclear electricity supply contracts

French utility EDF has notified three energy suppliers - Alpiq, Gazel Energie and Total Direct Energie - of the termination of their contracts under a mechanism that allows rival suppliers to buy electricity produced by EDF's nuclear power plants. The suppliers had sought to invoke the force majeure clause in their supply contracts with EDF.

Total’s LNG project in Mozambique to secure $15bn

Total's planned LNG export facility in Mozambique is to receive $15 billion (267bn rand) of financing commitments from a banking consortium at a signing scheduled for June, according to South Africa's Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), one of the project's backers.
