Poland announces new funding for geothermal heating projects
Poland’s National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) has allocated funding of PLN 400 million (approx. USD 101 million) for geothermal energy, as well as onshore and offshore wind projects. The application period for this funding will be from 16 September to 15 November 2024.

Daily (12.08.2024): Oil prices rose on Friday, amid geopolitical tensions
Oil prices edged 1% higher on Friday, as concerns over Iran's potential retaliation against Israel added upward pressure despite a generally pessimistic outlook for global demand. Thus, Brent crude closed at $79.66 a barrel, while WTI ended at $76.84 a barrel.

China confirms it filed appeal to WTO over EU electric vehicle tariffs
Beijing said on Friday (9 August) it had filed an appeal with the World Trade Organization over the European Union’s imposition, effective on 5 July, of provisional tariffs of up to 38% on imports of electric vehicles from China.

TotalEnergies completes purchase of UK 1.3 GW gas plant
French energy major TotalEnergies has completed its GBP 450m acquisition of UK power producer West Burton Energy – which runs a 1.3 GW gas-fired power plant – from investment firm EIG, West Burton Energy said on Friday.
