Oil prices surged on Wednesday, driven by an upward revision in fourth-quarter 2024 demand by the International Energy Agency and continued impact from U.S. sanctions on Russia. Brent crude rose by 2.6%, reaching $82 per barrel, its highest since July 2024. Similarly, WTI crude gained 3.3%, closing slightly higher than $80 a barrel.
