Belgium probes North Sea energy island by 2025
"We are going to build a multifunctional energy island in the North Sea which will interconnect our wind turbines … but at the same time it will also allow the storage and production of green hydrogen," Belgian energy minister Tinne Van der Straeten said last week.

Daily (04.05.2021): EUAs rallied towards 50 EUR/tonne on Monday amid continuing speculation
Crude oil prices started the week on a front foot, as strong economic figures from China and a rapid coronavirus vaccination pace in the US overshadowed the concerns over increasing virus figures in India. Hence, Brent crude added 0.55 to settle at $67.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude increased by 1.4% to close at $64.69 a barrel.

Italy to produce 70-72 per cent of power from renewables in 2030 to reach EU targets
Up to 72 per cent of Italy's electricity will have to be produced with renewable sources in 2030 in order for the country to reach the European emissions-reduction target of 55 per cent by that year, Italy's Ecology Transition Minister said on Wednesday.

‘More stable’ EU ETS prices under lower MSR rate
Lowering the intake rate of the EU emissions trading system's (ETS) market stability reserve (MSR) as planned in the coming years will lead to less volatility in the carbon market than if the current rate is retained under higher emission cut scenarios, according to a report published this week.
