Daily: European spot power prices rebound amid lower renewable output

Crude oil futures declined about 2 percent on Friday as traders paid little attention to a decline in the number of U.S. rigs drilling for oil and focused instead on an oversupply and falling stock prices on Wall Street. WTI crude dropped 70 cents, or 1.5 percent, to settle at $46.05. It posted a 1.7 percent hike on the week, after last week's near 12 percent gain, the largest since 2011. Brent crude lost $1.07, or 2.1 percent, to close at $49.61 a barrel. It registered a 0.9 percent decline on the week.

Daily: European spot electricity prices jump on lower wind output in Germany, higher electricity demand in France

Crude oil prices increased on Tuesday, with WTI crude soaring as much as 2 percent, spurred by optimistic economic figures and bets for weaker crude inventories in the United States, the largest oil consumer in the world. WTI crude rose by 75 cents to settle at $42.62 a barrel. Brent, the London-traded global benchmark for oil, boosted 7 cents to settle at $48.81, snapping a three-day loss. Brent declined initially on Tuesday morning after a stock market collapse in China, the No. 2 oil consumer.

Daily: European prompt power prices slashed by lower temperatures forecasts

U.S. crude plunged at a more than six-year low on Tuesday after China's currency depreciation intensified worries about oil demand in the No. 2 consumer and a new OPEC estimate showed non-member producers are likely to keep output high despite weak prices.

Daily: European spot power prices decline on higher wind output expectations

Crude oil futures settled higher on Wednesday on bullish stockpiles report from the Department of Energy and after Dow Jones indicated that Saudi Arabia would retreat its production after the summer. U.S. crude for September delivery rose by 81 cents to close at $48.79 a barrel Wednesday after soaring as much as 2.5 percent from six-month lows earlier in the session. Front-month Brent futures increased by 6 cents at $53.36 a barrel, having recovered from an intraday low of $52.51.
