Crude oil prices settled lower on Thursday on a volatile trade, as a stronger dollar and Washington’s pursuit of a nuclear deal with Tehran offset previous gains from supply concerns in Libya and Iraq. Brent dropped 7 cents to close at $60.48 a barrel, after soaring more than $1 earlier. U.S. crude declined 77 cents at $50.76, after rallying to $52.40 earlier.

Daily: Oil prices resume their downward trend on inventories increase

Crude oil prices returned to their downward tendency on Tuesday after a gain in the previous session, while stockpiles increased as investors snapped up depressed energy shares. Brent and U.S. oil declined by more than 2 percent each after a deal that will bring more Iraqi crude to markets and will push the dollar. Brent crude oil dropped $2.00, or 2.8 percent, to close at $70.54 a barrel, while U.S. crude slipped $2.12, or 3.1 percent, to end at $66.88.

Daily: German electricity prices decline on higher wind power output

Crude oil prices posted a modest gain on Friday, recovering from near four-year lows as investors bought back into a an oversold market and as conflicts in Iraq intensified political risk. Brent for December delivery increased by 34 cents to close at $86.16 a barrel. Brent contract for November delivery expired on Thursday. U.S. November crude, boosted 5 cents to settle at $82.75, registering its consecutive third weekly decline.

Daily: British gas prices increase on tight flows from Norway

Brent crude plunged, hitting a new 14-month low during Tuesday's session as the forecasts of stronger Iraqi and Libyan oil supplies weighed on the market. Brent crude oil for delivery in October declined 4 cents to hit at $101.56 a barrel, after slipping to $101.07, the lowest level since June 2013. WTI crude oil fell nearly $2 on Tuesday, falling for a second consecutive day as a rush of selling ahead of the session settlement dragged the contract to its lowest price since January. U.S. crude for September delivery tumbled abruptly a day ahead of its contract expiration, touching a session low of $94.27, its weakest level in seven months, before paring losses to settle at $94.48 a barrel, down $1.93.
