Gazprom to strengthen its power activities merging with Renova

According to the announcement of the Russian energy giant Gazprom on Wednesday, the company plans to consolidate its power generation activities by merging with Renova group by the end of the first quarter 2012. The companies confirmed their intention to complete a merger of the energy activities and consented to extend the Memorandum of Understanding until the end of the first quarter 2012.

Centrica and Qatar sign a strategic alliance on oil and gas projects

The British energy company, Centrica, the owner of British Gas and the state-run oil company Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) have recently teamed up in an effort to collaborate on pursuing international energy investments. On Monday they signed a memorandum of understanding to invest in a set of new or existing oil and gas projects. The deal includes investments in liquefied natural gas, gas power turbines, and gas storage.

Poland: first step in nuclear power

GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Ltd, a global nuclear alliance created by General Electric and Hitachi, signed a memorandum of understanding with Warsaw-based engineering firm Energoprojekt Warszawa, to start negotiations about building a future nuclear power plant in Poland.
