President Barack Obama has revealed yesterday the most ambitious plan that a US president has ever set. The plan includes measures to curb carbon-dioxide emissions from power plants, the largest source of emissions in the U.S. The limits are intended to help reduce carbon emissions by three billion metric tons by 2020.

Eurostat: CO2 emissions down 2.1% in 2012

Eurostat has announced recently that carbon dioxide emissions in the European Union decreased by 2.1 percent in 2012 compared with 2011. However, in 2011 the decline was bigger as it was recorded at 4.1 %.

China to set a cap on its CO2 emissions by 2016

The world's biggest producer of carbon dioxide intends to set a cap on its greenhouse gas emissions for the first time. China is planning an absolute emissions cap for the period 2016-2020, and is also looking at emissions targets for 2030 and 2050.
