Vestas receives an order for a new project in France

Danish manufacturer of wind turbines Vestas has received an order from Ostwind International for the delivery of 12 units of its V90- 3MW wind turbines for the new Atrebatie project in France. The Le Bois du Haut, Le Vert Galant, and Garimetz wind farms will be composed from 12 wind turbines with a total capacity of 36 MW.

UK: Twenty gas-fired stations to be build by 2030

UK is planning to build twenty new gas-fired power stations which will add 20GW of generating capacity to the national grid by 2030 amid a considerable increase in consumption of the fossil fuels, according to the climate and energy secretary, Ed Davey.

Europe achieves 100 GW of installed wind power

The European Wind Association (EWEA) announced the EU has reached 100 GW of installed wind power capacity on Thursday 27 September. This capacity represents an average year’s power for 57 million households and it took the sector 20 years to reach its first 10 GW, but only 13 years to add the other 90 GW. Half of the existing capacity has been installed over the last six years.

Europe installed two-thirds of worldwide solar panel power in 2011

According to a report from the European Commission, two-thirds of worldwide solar panels installations in 2011 were in Europe, totaling 18.5 GW. The photovoltaic industry in Europe has increased by an average of over 40% per year in the last 10 years, at the same time as production costs have dropped by around 60%. Its overall PV capacity totaled 52 GW.
