Daily (25.08.2017): Expected decline in wind and nuclear production lifts electricity prices

Oil prices dropped on Thursday as Hurricane Harvey, expected to come ashore as the strongest storm to hit the U.S. mainland in 12 years, threatened oil operations along the energy hub on the U.S. Gulf Coast. Brent crude settled down 53 cents a barrel, or 1 percent, at $52.04. Meanwhile, WTI crude price fell 2% to $47.43 a barrel.

Daily (28.07.2017): Brent prices soared to 2-month high on Thursday - $51.49 a barrel

Oil prices continued to rise on Thursday with support from a huge slide in U.S. crude inventories. Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia, fellow members of the OPEC, have also promised export cuts. U.S. fuel exports are on track to hit another record in 2017, making foreign fuel markets increasingly important for the profit margins of U.S. refiners. Also, Europe's major energy firms are turning a corner after a 3-year slump, Royal Dutch Shell, France's Total and Norway's Statoil reported sharp rises in cash flow from second quarter operations. Brent crude jumped by 1% to $51.49 a barrel, while WTI price jumped by 0.8% to close at $48.75 a barrel.

Centrica is closing UK’s largest natural gas storage site

Centrica Storage Ltd (CSL) declared on Tuesday about its intention to stop storage operations at Rough. The energy supplier wants to permanently end Rough's status as a storage facility. Nevertheless, the company plans to produce all recoverable gas from the gas field, which is anticipated at 183 billion cubic feet (bcf).

Statoil will launch production at Gina Krog oil and gas field in June
