Scotland: The UK should help secure the future of the hydropower sector

The Scottish Energy Minister Paul Wheelhouse, has declared recently during a visit at a £ 12 million pumped hydro storage plant at Foyers, near Loch Ness, that the UK government must cooperate with Scotland in order to secure the future of the hydropower sector. He also underlined that last year, hydro generation attained a new record level of 5,780GWh, up 6.3 per cent if compared to 2014 data.

Daily: German power prices rose on lower wind and solar production

On Thursday oil prices were up 1 percent on U.S.-Iran military tensions in the Gulf and rumors that the dollar will drop according to a monetary policy speech made by the head of U.S. Federal Reserve. Brent crude futures increased by 62 cents, or 1.3 percent, at $49.67 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures augmented by 56 cents, or by 1.2 percent, arriving at $47.33.
