Turkey looking for Turkmen gas for TANAP

Taner Yildiz, Turkish Minister for Energy, has said that Turkmenistan is likely to join Azerbaijan in supplying gas into the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) through Turkey to the EU border thus helping to reduce Europe’s reliance on Russian gas.

Turkey and Azerbaijan to build the TANAP gas pipeline

Turkey and Azerbaijan signed an agreement for the construction of a new pipeline, called Trans-Anatolia Gas Pipeline (TANAP), which would transport gas from Shah Deniz II fields in the Caspian Sea across Turkey and would become part of the basis of a new Southern Corridor gas route to European markets.

The Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov declared during a meeting with Azeri president Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday that Ukraine is interested in joining the Trans-Caspian pipeline project, which is studied by Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
