Statoil and Total: significant gas discovery in the North Sea

The Norwegian oil and gas company Statoil and the French giant Total have made a significant gas discovery in the Southern part of the Norwegian North Sea, in the King Lear prospect. Until now 7 new oil and gas discoveries were made on the Norwegian Shelf, from which 4 were made in the North Sea, 2 in Norwegian Sea and one in Barents Sea.

Statoil: global energy demand up 40% by 2040

Global energy demand is expected to increase by more than 40 per cent towards 2040, according to Statoil’s annual outlook for global economics and energy markets – Energy Perspectives 2012, as economic output more than doubles and prosperity expands across a world whose population will grow to nearly 9 billion people. Meanwhile, by 2030, global oil demand is set to reach a plateau level of around 100 million barrels per day, as gas and renewables account for a greater share of the energy mix.

Statoil: Valemon steel jacket completed

Rosneft to strike a $2.5 billion Arctic deal with Statoil

The Russian state oil giant Rosneft announced that it inked a $2.5 billion Arctic exploration deal with Norway's major Statoil on Saturday, move that will allow companies to jointly develop four hydrocarbon deposits in Russia's Arctic and Far East.
