Russia and Bangladesh expand nuclear cooperation

A number of documents have been signed between Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom and the government of Bangladesh that will enhance existing bilateral cooperation in the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. Russia is currently constructing a two-unit nuclear power plant at Rooppur, Bangladesh.

In 2019, the Russian NPPs set a new record in terms of electric power output

According to Rosatom, in 2019, the Russian nuclear power plants set a new electric power output record – over 208.784 billion kilowatt-hours, which means they have grown their joint production and exceeded their previous record of 2018 (204.275 billion kWh) by over 4.5 billion kWh.

World's 1st floating nuclear power plant connects to grid

The world's first floating nuclear power plant (NPP), Akademik Lomonosov, was grid-connected to provide electricity for the first time in the remote Chaun-Bilibino network in the coastal gold-mining town of Pevek, in Russia's Far East, Russian State Atomic Corporation Rosatom announced on Thursday.

Belene project attracts five expressions of interest

Five companies have expressed interest in Bulgaria’s invitation for strategic investment in the construction of Belene nuclear power plant on the Danube River near the Romanian border. According to national newspaper 24 Chasa, China National Nuclear Corporation, Framatome, General Electric, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power and Rosatom have all applied for the selection process.

Rosatom postpones fast reactor project, report says

Rosenergoatom, the nuclear power plant operator subsidiary of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom is expected to receive about RUB280 billion (USD4 billion) less in state funding for the construction of new nuclear reactors in Russia owing to the postponement of its fast neutron reactor programme, Russian newspaper Kommersant reported last week, citing anonymous sources.
