A looming trade dispute between U.S. and China buoyed oil prices on Monday. Furthermore, Brent crude jumped by 2.6% to $75.34 a barrel, ahead of the OPEC meeting this week aimed at raising global crude supply. WTI crude hiked by 1.2% to $65.85 a barrel.

The meeting scheduled in Vienna this week between Saudi Arabia and Russia pressured oil prices on Friday. WTI crude was 2.7% lower at $65.06 a barrel. At the same time, Brent crude slumped by more than 3.3% to settle at $73.44 a barrel.

Predictions that voluntary output reductions led by OPEC might be eased weighed down on Brent crude on Tuesday, which closed 0.8% lower at $75.88 a barrel. OPEC warned about downside risks to demand in the last quarters of the 2018, stating that oil market outlook is uncertain.

Oil prices were mixed on Wednesday. Brent futures soared following a report that OPEC might scale back its agreement to curb oil production at its June meeting, adding $0.23, or 0.3%, to close at $79.80 a barrel. WTI futures lost $0.36, or 0.5%, due to an unexpected hike in U.S. crude stockpiles, to settle at $71.84 a barrel.

Oil prices increased on Friday recovering from two days of declines due to strong US jobs data and investors’ hopes that the scheduled meeting between U.S. President Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un would reduce geopolitical tensions.
