Daily: UK gas prices up on an undersupplied system

Crude oil remained constant on Monday on hopes for more stimulus measures to support economic growth. Oil Brent for October was traded at 114.74 dollars per barrel, up by 17 cents, while U.S. crude decreased by 15 cents arriving at 96.32 dollars per barrel.

Carbon emissions to considerably increase in the UK since 2009

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) reported that carbon emissions increased in 97%, or 394 out of 406, of local authorities (LA) across the UK in 2010.

UK: SSE customers to see their energy bills up 9%

SSE, UK energy utility, announced that from mid-October electricity and gas bills will increase by 9%, blaming higher energy network costs, regulation and higher commodity prices. Around half of the cost of SSE's energy bills is determined by wholesale levels.

Daily: Gas demand in UK dropped to a six year low

Tight supplies of natural gas in UK might not hit consumers as their demand is currently 30% under the seasonal norm, having dropped to a six year low from an average of 223 million cubic meters last summer to 155 million cubic meters at the end of July this year. Gas supplies have dropped due to lower LNG output, a loss of the Elgin-Franklin platform and lower UK gas production during an intense maintenance period. This week, natural gas prices were traded at roughly 55.50 pence per therm.
