EDF to build and operate nuclear reactors in UK
The U.K. government and Electricite de France SA are close to announcing a great deal that would see France's EDF Energy building the country's first new nuclear power station since 1995. The project could have a total cost of more than 22.4 billion dollars and would be built on the west coast of England.

Currently the UK has 16 reactors generating on average about 19% of its electricity and all but one of these will be retired by 2023.The country has a number of reactors which are currently reaching the end of their working life, and it is now unclear how they will be replaced.

Japan to restart its nuclear reactors
Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) announced it wanted to restart reactors at the world's largest atomic power station. Japanese nuclear operators applied to restart reactors under new regulations drawn up following the Fukushima disaster.

European Commission launches new nuclear safety rules

The future of nuclear in UK: To be or not to be?
