2012 record year for new PV installations in Germany

The Federal Network Agency has recently published Germany’s photovoltaic installation data and the latest feed-in-tariff reduction figures for December and the whole last year. At the same time as December saw just 330 MW of new plants added, 2012 registered a new installation record, while FITs will decrease by 2.2% over the next three months.

UK: new solar centre was launched

The UK has launched a national centre for solar PV, the BRE National Solar Centre (NSC), which will help industry and government to deliver on solar PV opportunities identified in the government’s Renewables Roadmap. Solar PV provides 5.6% of Italian electricity demand in 2012

According to some figures released by the Italian transmission grid operator Terna SpA, electricity from solar photovoltaic generation increased by roughly 72% in comparison to 2011 levels reaching 18.3 TWh.

France unveils a new package of emergency measures for solar power industry

France's Minister of Sustainable Development has recently unveiled a new package of 'emergency' measures for the country's solar photovoltaic (PV) industry, including doubling France's feed-in tariff goal for PV plants smaller than 100 kW to 400 MW annually. In order to achieve this goal, the tariff structure has been simplified by removing building types such as schools or public buildings.
