According to the Italian power grid operator Terna, Italy’s electricity consumption was down 3.4% last month in comparison to the year before, to 25.3 billion kWh. The drop in electricity demand is due to the crisis, but the good news is that Italy now has an abundance of energy, which is reflected positively on prices.

According to a report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the production of energy from coal is little by little regaining market share from natural gas-fired power generation. According to the grid operator Elering AS, Estonia’s share of renewable energy has increased by 2% in comparison to 2011 levels and currently stands at 14.9% of total consumption, which means that Estonia is the first country in the European Union to meet the 2020 renewables target.
