IKEA start selling solar panels in UK

IKEA will start selling residential solar panels in UK in the coming months in a move which aims to bring renewable energy to the mainstream market worldwide. The company’s solar panels are made by China’s Hanergy. UK does not have the largest of solar markets if compared with other European countries, but thanks to subsidies offered by the government it has grown progressively, with installations increasing by 25% year on year.

UK: renewable generation increased more than 50% in the second quarter of 2013

According to figures offered by DECC in the second quarter of this year renewables output in UK increased 56% to 12.8 TWh. Due to increased capacity and high wind speeds wind production augmented by 62%, hydro was up almost 30% while solar, wave and tidal registered a 22% increase.

China to offer more subsidies for renewable energy
