US energy giant Chevron has recently announced a natural gas discovery by its Australian subsidiary in the Exmouth Plateau area of the Carnarvon Basin, offshore Western Australia, being the 13th offshore natural gas discovery since 2009.

Ukraine to cut the amount of natural gas imports from Russia

The Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov declared that Ukraine refuses to pay for large volumes of gas from Russia, as set out in current contracts, ahead of continued negotiations with Russia, as Kiev considers them as unfair.

Eni discovers huge amount of natural gas in one of the poorest nations

The Italian energy major Eni and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. have discovered a big reserve of natural gas in one of the world’s poorest regions in the Indian Ocean, near the coast of Mozambique. The deposit, called Mambo, may contain about 20 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Tule Wind Power Project approved

The US Department of the Interior gave approval to the construction of a 186 MW Tule Wind Power Project owned by Iberdrola Renewables. The project is the first one approved for public lands among the other five wind projects agreed on by Secretary Ken Salazar and then by the governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009. The wind project will be built in the In-Ko-Pah Mountains of San Diego County, California (USA).

Duke acquires Arizona PV plants

Duke Energy Renewable has recently acquired from Recurrent Energy two utility-scale power plants in Arizona, the Ajo Solar Project and Bagdad Solar Project for an unknown amount. These represent the company’s first plants in the West of America.
