France unveils its long-awaited energy transition law

The French long-awaited green energy bill was unveiled last week, being approved by the cabinet. France will mobilise about 10 billion euros ($13.41 billion) for a package of tax breaks, low-cost loans and bonuses to spur investment in renewable energy and curb the country’s oil and gas bill, according to declarations made by Energy Minister Ségolène Royal.

UK record: Almost 15% of electricity generated from renewables in 2013

The statistics from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) showed that electricity generation from renewable sources increased by 30% in 2013 compared to the previous year, and accounted for almost 15% of the electricity mix.
