Work begins on 385 MW Baltic Sea wind farm

Germany-based utility company E.ON and Norwegian oil and gas firm Statoil have started on Thursday the construction of the 385 MW Arkona offshore wind project, a new wind farm situated 35 kilometers northeast of the island of Rugen in the German Baltic Sea.

Statoil will reduce carbon emissions by 2 million tonnes by 2030

The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association made known about its goal to implement carbon emissions reduction measures corresponding to 2.5 million tonnes on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) by 2030 compared to 2020.

Statoil acquires Petrobras assets in Carcará oil finding for $2.5 billion

Norwegian oil major Statoil ASA declared on Friday it had decided to acquire Petrobras' 66% operated interest in the BM-S-8 offshore license in Brazil's Santos basin for $2.5 billion.

E.ON and Statoil will construct $1.3 billion Baltic wind farm

E.ON and Statoil are scheduling a 60 turbine offshore wind farm for the German Baltic Sea. The $1.3 billion (€1.2 billion) wind farm, named Arkona, will be located close to the German island of Rügen.

Nine offshore wind energy developers join forces to slash levelised cost of energy

Nine of the largest offshore wind developers in Europe: DONG Energy, EnBW, E.ON, Iberdrola, RWE, SSE, Statkraft, Statoil and Vattenfall have joined forces with independent company Carbon Trust to work on collaborative research, development and demonstration (RD&D) programme - the Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) in order to slash the levelised cost of energy from offshore wind, improve efficiency and availability of existing and future offshore wind farms.
