World Bank to limit financing coal- fired power plants in the future
The World Bank has announced it will help countries to seek alternatives to coal power and will stop funding for new coal power generation projects. Jim Yong Kim, the President of the World Bank has always stressed the need to mitigate the impacts of climate change, making it a main concern for the Bank itself and for its five main organizations which are offering loans and grants to poor and emergent countries worldwide.

China: first in the world to achieve 3 GW of solar power
China becomes the first country in the world to hit the 3 GW solar power target. The Asian nation has built 40 new solar plants with over 1 GW of production capacity since December last year. China runs on a large 132-utility scale solar plants which places them closer to their goal of producing 15 GW by 2015.

Enel Green Power has connected its first PV plants in Romania
Italian renewable energy company Enel Green Power SpA (EGP), a subsidiary of the Enel Group has announced it has connected to the grid its first photovoltaic plants in Romania. The two plants of Berceni 1 and Berceni 2, have a combined installed capacity of about 19 MW, are likely to generate almost 29 GWh per year. The plants are located in Prahova County.

Germany’s renewable energy sector
Germany’s renewable energy sector is currently one of the most flourishing in the world, with solar registering the greatest success. Last year, thanks to strong growth of the renewable, an export surplus of about 22 TWh was reached, with solar PV power plants that produced about 28 TWh a growth of about 44% in comparison to 2011 when they have produced 19.3 TWh.

Nuclear Power in France
France has decided to launch a great nuclear program in 1973, when the quadrupling of the price of oil by OPEC nations was a shock for France because at that time, most of its electricity came from oil burning plants, this was the Middle East event that they refer to as the "oil shock."
