Early Belgian gas switch could speed up Groningen halt

The last Belgian low-calorie gas users could be switched over by the end of 2024, well ahead of the previously expected final switch by the end of 2029, the Belgian energy ministry said in a letter to its Dutch counterpart. This could end exports of low-calorie gas to Belgium — excluding those sent on to France — from the Netherlands by the end of 2024, Dutch economy minister Bas van 't Wout said.

Norway's NBT, Belgium's WV to build wind farms with 800 MW total capacity in Serbia

Norwegian utility-scale wind power developer NBT entered a partnership with Belgium-based WV International, former Windvision, to develop wind projects with a combined capacity of 800 MW in Serbia by 2026, the two companies said on Tuesday.

Electrabel calls for clarity on Belgian phase-out

Electrabel - the Belgian subsidiary of French utility Engie - says it will not make any further investments at Doel unit 4 and Tihange unit 3 unless it is clearer whether the reactors will or will not be allowed to operate beyond 2025. A report due out at the end of next year may lead to the reactors being allowed to continue operating to ensure Belgium's energy security.
