Romania restarts approach to new Cernavoda units
Romania plans to create a Strategic Coordination Committee for the project to build units 3 and 4 at the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, according to a notice in the government’s official gazette on 14 July. The notice followed another published the same day, stating that the prime minister's 2018 decision to establish a working group for the negotiation of a draft intergovernmental agreement between Romania and China for the project had been abrogated.

Romania awards contract for Cernavoda extension
Candu Energy, a member of Canada's SNC-Lavalin Group, has won a USD10.8 million contract from Societatea Nationala Nuclearelectrica (SNN) for engineering analyses and assessments on unit 1 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant in Romania. The work aims to extend the operation of the unit by an additional 35,000 hours.

Romania's Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 returns to full power
Nuclearelectrica, the operator of Romania's sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda, said on Tuesday that the plant's Unit 2 is operating at full power again, following repair works that lasted 12 hours.
